Knitwear No. 10 – A Little City
A one-of-a-kind handmade sweater inspired by colourful little cities, playful details and the joy of making something completely unexpected.
The sweater combines a softly textured blue and teal knitted body with an expressive mix of colours, textures and handmade details. Its most distinctive feature is the colourful row of little houses running along the lower edge — each one different in shape, colour and character, creating the feeling of a tiny handmade city.
The front and back are not identical, but share the same playful architectural motif. Small houses, windows, rooftops and colourful details are individually knitted and crocheted and carefully incorporated into the sweater, turning the lower part into a miniature neighbourhood.
The sleeves take the patchwork idea even further. Different knitted sections, contrasting colours and textured panels come together in an intentionally irregular composition. One sleeve is not simply a copy of the other, making the sweater feel more like a handmade textile collage than a conventional garment.
The neckline adds another layer of detail, combining deep teal with softer green and cream accents and a delicate ruffled edge. Small handmade elements appear throughout the sweater, rewarding a closer look.
The overall palette moves between deep blue, teal, sage green, soft grey, cream, pink, yellow, orange, purple and touches of bright colour. Despite the many colours and textures, the blue-green base keeps the whole composition visually connected.
The result is a cheerful, highly individual piece that feels almost like a little city you can wear — playful, nostalgic and full of tiny handmade details.
